Spooky Brownies
I'm in charge of Colin's kindergarten class Halloween treat. In true Harmony form, I must make their snack BETTER. THAN. ANY. SNACK. EVER.
Therefore, these ghost brownies (thanks Sharon for the link) Isn't he cute? I think I'm going to name him Shawn.
Although he looks a little forlorn. Here's a kissy face just for my loyal blog readers.
Mmmwah!
Update: If you are thinking of making these (and why wouldn't you? They're awesome) I heated the frosting for 20 seconds and then poured it over SLOWLY around the top outer rim of the marshmallow. Go SLOW! I used Red Hots for the eyes--drawing eyes is not for me. Smoochy mouths? That's another story)

Shake Your Groove Thang
Kate knows how to shake it. What's that? What's she dancing to?
That's right people. It's Romanian. Culture, people. Culture.

The Weekend In Pictures
Things we learned this weekend:
A pumpkin patch in 90 degree weather is not as magical as it sounds.
Kate has some hitch in her giddy-up. We don't know what that means either.
Shoes really do make the outfit. (thanks Mom!)
Dental hygiene is important.
Colin is cute...
...although he might need to start shaving. Or has rabies.
Colin
I love: drawing, school, the Wii, Batman, haunted houses, geckos, anything in "nugget" shape, sword fighting, personal nudity, Subway's "Five Dollar Foot Long" commercials, reading, napping in my parent's bed, pirates and car races.
I dislike: being misunderstood, traffic, my food touching, Kate crying, having my hair combed, the missionaries coming over, and long pants.
I am headstrong. I am kind. I am tall and skinny. I am a good older brother. I laugh way more than I cry. I am brave.
I am five. Hear me roar.

The Tutus are coming!
You guys, I'm in over my head right now. But SOON I will be putting up a tutu tutorial (trying saying that three times fast) which is so easy you'll be amazed. Not that I ever post anything particularly hard.
So order your tulle now. I got mine here. Get about 50 yards of the 6" width--it will put you out a whole 4 bucks.
'Cause I always have to write something down here. This tutu is pre-"trimmed" (where I freak out in my analness and cut them all the same length. It's a sickness)
I'm off to jam a two year old into bee wings for a party!
Two of my favorite things...
Who else loves Apple ads? (although heads up--this is not a real one)
Tell me you're not dancing too.

Love Letters
Dear Kate, Do you know you do the exact same "fish face" lips that your dad does when you're concentrating? It's the one feature on you he can claim as his own.
Dear Colin, You are a fantastic photographer. Look at your handiwork from today.
Dear me, You are a big dork in your pictures. Dammit, give Colin something to work with.

Tourists
Tourism: the sum of the phenomena and relationships arising from the travel and stay of non-residents, insofar as they do not lead to permanent residence and are not connected with any earning activity
Living in Hawaii gives you very different perspective on tourists. They are the ones who cut you off in their rented convertibles, they are the ones wearing color coordinated Hawaiian shirts, they always seem to be drunk. They are kind of annoying.
After two weeks of lugging around my in-laws (along with a random aunt) I can honestly say I bristled every time I heard the word "tourist". So much so that at the Polynesian Cultural Center when workers would ask me "where are you from, cousin?" (Cousin being a polite term around here!) I'd say "I LIVE HERE! HERE!" Then they would look my lily white self up and down and think "Sure whitey, sure"
So after a week, I embraced yet. Hell yeah, I'm a tourist. Give me my damn lei.
My best cheesy tourist pose. I only wish I was holding my drink poured into a pineapple.
Excuse the beet redness. Did you know it's hot and humid here? Did you also know I was at the PCC for ten hours?
